Researching practical guardrails for adaptive, emotion-aware AI in educational and youth-facing contexts.

About Shaadana's work

Shaadana Rajesh serves as a Summer Research Intern at the Institute for AI Measurement Science (IAIMS), where she explores guardrails for adaptive, emotion-aware AI systems used in educational and youth-facing contexts. Her interest in this work grew out of building AI for students: as founder of LeapOnward, a nonprofit exploring the use of adaptive, emotion-aware AI to support teen engagement and learning, she developed leaponsat.com, an SAT prep platform that applies engagement science and behavior design to how the system communicates with learners. Shaadana brings experience across AI product development, behavioral science, and youth-focused venture leadership, with a focus on understanding how emerging technologies affect the people who use them. Her work has focused on translating that perspective into practical research questions about how AI governance frameworks apply to educational technology. At IAIMS, Shaadana supports the setup and testing of the Institute's measurement AI workflows and has contributed to outreach, grant research, and an IEEE paper on operational AI governance measurement infrastructure, co-presented at the IEEE TEMSGlobal conference.
